Wooden Bathtubs & OFURO Japanese Soaking Tubs - Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of wood do we use to make our bathtubs?
We use only carefully selected hardwoods from Europe, Asia, and Africa — primarily ash, oak, and walnut. Each type of wood is seasoned for several years in natural conditions and then mechanically dried to achieve optimal moisture content, stability, and hardness. Only woods with high resistance to humidity and temperature changes qualify for production.
How long does a wooden bathtub last?
A properly maintained MICHOR wooden bathtub can last for decades. The multi-layered structure, waterproof adhesives, and 10-day OSMO hardwax-oil impregnation system ensure long-term durability, resistance to cracking, and full water impermeability.
Does the wood in the bathtub crack when exposed to water?
No. Our tubs are constructed from three layers of solid hardwood pressed using waterproof, certified KLEIBERIT adhesive (D4 standard). This technology minimizes natural expansion and shrinkage. Combined with deep oil impregnation and a wax-protected surface, the bathtub remains stable and crack-free even under high humidity.
How long does it take to make a wooden bathtub?
Standard production time is 6–10 weeks, depending on the model, wood type, level of customization, and current production schedule. Each bathtub is made to order, which ensures attention to detail and individual craftsmanship.
What finishes are available?
All wooden surfaces are treated with OSMO natural hardwax-oils — ecological, safe, and resistant to water, abrasion, and dirt. The final finish can enhance the wood's natural grain in a satin or semi-matte effect. Upon request, we can adapt the tone and protective layer to match specific interior projects.
Do you offer a warranty on bathtubs?
Yes. MICHOR offers a warranty that covers structural integrity, waterproofing, and workmanship. Because we use certified adhesives and high-quality oils, the bathtubs meet professional safety and durability standards required for both private and commercial use.
Are wooden bathtubs suitable for spas and commercial facilities?
Absolutely. Our products are used in luxury hotels, SPA & wellness centers across Europe and the US. Thanks to multi-layer construction, high waterproofing (yacht-level impregnation), and durable finishes, they perform exceptionally well in intensive, everyday use.
What accessories can be added to a wooden bathtub?
We offer custom platforms, wooden shower bases, backrests, matching washbasins, and integrated design elements depending on the model. Each bathtub is made to order, so we can adapt accessories to specific architectural requirements.
How much does a wooden bathtub cost and what determines its price?
The price depends on several factors: bathtub model, dimensions, wood species, level of customization, additional accessories, and destination country. Because each product is made individually, prices are calculated per project. We provide detailed quotations after receiving the project requirements.
How do I place an order for a wooden bathtub?
You can contact us directly via email or phone. After discussing the desired model, wood type, dimensions, and additional elements, we prepare a custom quote. Production begins upon approval of the design and payment terms.
